The U-Series linear actuator has been designed to provide highly reliable performance for mission-critical underwater and surface naval applications in a compact footprint. With a robust pressure-compensated oil-filled (PBOF) design and SubConn Wet-Mate connectors, it can withstand depths of over 6000 meters.
The actuator can be provided with a wide variety of different options to suit a range of applications and designs, including stepper motors or brushless DC motors, self-locking Acme leadscrews or high-efficiency ballscrews, and stroke lengths from 1 to 16 inches. All U-series actuators feature an internal linear potentiometer for absolute position feedback, and require external motor control electronics to operate.
Applications include deployment of float releases, sensors and other payloads, raising of masts and antennas, subsea valve actuation, and control of hydrofoils or rudders.
