Saab’s new Skapa technology accelerator will demonstrate the capabilities of its Autonomous Ocean Core at WEST 2025, San Diego.

Collaborating with Aalyria, ANELLO, Hidden Level, Microsoft, Mythos AI, and Second Front, Saab aims to showcase the seamless integration of advanced technologies across diverse platforms.

The Autonomous Ocean Core is a highly adaptable control solution designed to enable both uncrewed and autonomous operations across naval platforms—above and beneath the water’s surface. By ensuring reliable, predictable functionality, it allows these systems to perform efficiently in even the most challenging maritime environments.

During the demonstration, attendees will witness mission scenarios powered by the Autonomous Ocean Core, enhanced by the unique technologies of Saab’s partners. This system supports a wide array of operations, including Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR), electronic warfare, search and rescue, mine countermeasures, logistics, and more.

Built with versatility in mind, the Autonomous Ocean Core offers multiple maneuvering modes, providing precise operational control tailored to specific mission requirements. Its plug-and-play design ensures compatibility with both new and legacy systems, enabling immediate deployment for various naval missions, whether operating independently or integrated with additional capabilities.

Erik Smith, President and CEO of Saab in the U.S, said, “Saab’s Autonomous Ocean Core provides a solid foundation for expanding autonomous operations through continuous development and integration of third-party capabilities.

“We are excited to add the enhanced capabilities from our partners and provide customers with an increased tactical edge, while becoming less dependent on active manpower. Safe and reliable autonomous operations is the future of naval warfare.”

WEST takes place in San Diego from January 28-30, 2025.
